"my friend from the beginning"

this is another photo of my friend's grandmother that i fell in love with. if you didn't see it yet, here is the other one i used in a painting. there is something about old photos that make me nostalgic even though i have no personal association with them. maybe it's the simplicity of the lifestyle from that time or maybe i just really appreciate even just the physical photo itself. it wasn't just taken with a phone and printed off the computer. there was effort in capturing the moment.

on the back of this photo my friend sue's grandma wrote, "my friend from the beginning". once i heard that, i knew i had to paint this sentiment. now sue can have it on her wall to always remember.
